Sanskrit gave this stone the name Chandrakanta — beloved of the moon. The old texts held that it was not mined but condensed: moonlight falling on stone night after night until the light stayed behind, caught inside. It is the reason the stone seems to hold a glow that moves when you move, drifting across the surface like light under water rather than sitting on it.
In Vedic astrology moonstone belongs to Chandra, the Moon, ruler of the mind and the tides of feeling. It is the stone prescribed for a restless mind — worn not for fortune but for composure, and traditionally given to travellers setting out at night.
The Stone
A natural moonstone cabochon with that characteristic cool, milky translucence and a soft blue-lilac drift of light across the dome. The effect is called adularescence, and it is the stone's signature — it cannot be imitated convincingly, and it is why moonstone has to be seen in motion to be understood.
The Silver
Set in 92.5 sterling silver with a sculpted wave sweeping across the upper edge of the stone — a small piece of shaping that catches hard light and plays it against the stone's softer glow. Finished with a smooth tapered bail.
